What is pepper chicken?
Pepper chicken or also known as pepper dry chicken is an Indian recipe. It is prepared with home made pepper masala which is added with chicken and cooked. You can prepare this spicy delicious recipe any day. It fits perfectly as a starter for any party or gathering also as a main course to enjoy with rice or roti. I personally love it with roti because of its spicy pepper taste. This delicious recipe is almost loved by everyone irrespective of regions.
Origin of pepper chicken
Pepper dry chicken is most common found in southern states of the India mainly in Malnad regions and also few parts of north east India, as the people there love spicy and tangy food due to the cold climatic conditions. I came to know about this recipe from one of Coorg friend where it is very popular. I have prepared little bit different variation of it as the original one is way too dry and I like little gravy with it. The preparation is also very simple and you can easily prepare this in your home.
How to eat pepper chicken?
Pepper chicken is generally served as a starter or appetizer as it is little dry. I prefer it as both starter as well as main course and consume it with naan or tandoori roti. You can also eat it with rice just add little more water to make it like gravy and you are good to go.
Shelf life
The shelf life of prepared pepper chicken is upto 3 days if stored in refrigerator. You can prepare the spice mix for pepper chicken before hand and store it in an air tight container for upto 2 months.
