In this recipe I show you how to make restaurant style methi matar malai. As you know that this is also served in every indian restaurant just like shahi paneer, paneer butter masala or matar paneer.
Unlike other indian curries, methi matar malai is very less spicy. Also the colour of this curry is very different from the other vibrant looking indian curries.
I love this curry when I don’t feel like eating spicy food and also wants to eat healthy food.
In this recipe I have tried to make it like they serve in restaurant. For that to remove the bitterness from methi or fenugreek, I boiled it and then squeezed out all the water from it. Some people will feel that I have removed all the good things from methi by boiling and discarding the water but guys if you feel like you can definitely use that water, also do you always eat healthy food?
This recipe requires cream, please do not skit it, otherwise it won’t be methi matar malai. Also you can increase the amount of methi used as per your taste.

methi matar malai
Ingredients
- 4 cup water
- 2 cups methi/fenugreek
- 2 cups cold water
- 10 cashews
- 12 gram ginger
- 2 green chilli
- 2 medium onion
- 2 tsp oil
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups peas
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/3 cup fresh cream
Instructions
- To prepare methi malai matar first add water and methi in a container
- boil it for 2 minutes
- drain out water
- add cold water and squeeze it
- now in an another container add water, cashews, ginger, geen chilli and onion
- cover and boil for 5 minutes
- drain out water and blend it
- now add oil, cumin seeds and blended puree in a pan
- fry it a little and add little water
- add methi and mix it well
- now add coriander powder, garam masala and salt
- mix it well
- add milk and mix it well
- add green peas and cook for 1-2 minutes on medium heat
- add sugar and fresh cream and mix it well
