This is a Dabeli recipe street style. Dabeli is an authentic Indian, Gujarati snack which is also known as kutchi dabeli or double roti. It is originated from Kutch region of Gujarat hence it is also called as kutchi dabeli. It is a perfect Indian snack for your family and friends. Today I am Sharing my delicious dhabeli recipe with detailed step-by-step instructions with photos.
In this Dabeli recipe, I have made dabeli masala, peanut masala for dabeli and potato filling for dabeli.
Dabeli recipe street style is prepared by different types of fillings, filled to a pav bread and by grilling it. For dabeli we use separate dabeli masala prepared using different spices and masala powders. The dabeli masala made in the city of kutch region are said to more authentic as it was originated from there and has a history of around 60 years.
Dabeli is a very popular snack recipe in and across India, you can prepare it easily. It is also one of the famous Indian fast food available in street food joints. Its quite spicier as we include lots of masala ingredients, but you can also add sweet tamarind chutney to cut down the spiciness of it.
Shelf life of Dabeli –
- Potato filling and chutneys can be prepared and kept for 2-3 days if refrigerated.
- dhabeli masala will last up to 2-3 months if kept in air tight container.

Dhabeli
Ingredients
For Dhabeli masala
- 1 tsp fennel seeds
- 5 clove
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp grated coconut
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/3 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp cumin powder
- 1/4 tsp black pepper powder
- 1/4 tsp hing
- 1 tsp dry mango powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
For peanut masala
- 1/2 cup salted peanuts
- 2 tbsp dhabeli masala
- 1 tsp lime juice
- 1/2 tsp oil
for Garlic chutney
- 10-15 red chillies
- water
- 10 garlic
- 1 tsp lime juice
- 1/2 tsp salt
For filling
- 2 tsp oil
- 3 tbsp dhabeli masala
- 5-6 medium mashed potatoes
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp tamarind chutney
- 1/4 cup water
- fresh grated coconut
- coriander leaves
- pomegranate
- masala peanuts
- pav bread.
Instructions
For dhabeli masala
- first add fennel seeds and clove to a frying pan.
- roast it for a minute
- now add sesame seeds and grated coconut
- roast it for 3-4 minutes
- Now add chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala, turmeric, cumin, black pepper, hing, dry mango powder and salt to it
- fry it for a minute on low heat
- transfer to a blender and grind a fine powder
- Dhabeli masala is ready
for peanut masala
- add salted peanuts, dhabeli masala, lime juice and oil to a bowl
- mix it well
for garlic chutney
- take red chillies in a bowl add water and soak it for 30 minutes
- now transfer it to a blender and add garlic, lime juice and salt
- add some amount of water
- blend it to a fine paste
- add some more water and adjust the thin consistency
For filling
- add oil and dhabeli masala to a pan
- fry it for 1 minute on medium heat
- add potatoes and mix it well
- now add salt, tamarind chutney and water
- mix it well
- add the potato filling in a wide bowl and add fresh grated coconuts, coriander leaves, pomegranate and masala peanut and press it a little
- take a pav and make a slit
- add garlic chutney on one side and tamarind chutney on other side and fill it with onions, masala peanuts and prepared filling
- roll it in bhujia sev
- put some butter on tawa and place the dhabeli
- grill from all the sides
- your dhabeli is ready

For dhabeli masala

- add the potato filling in a wide bowl and add fresh grated coconuts, coriander leaves, pomegranate and masala peanut and press it a little
- take a pav bread and make a slit
- add garlic chutney on one side and tamarind chutney on other side and fill it with onions, masala peanuts and prepared filling
- at last add some more potato filling
- add some pomegranate seeds for garnishing
- roll it in bhujia sev
- put some butter on tawa
- place the dhabeli grill from all the sides.
- your dhabeli is ready
