Idlis are authentic breakfast recipe of Indian sub-continent origin. Generally Idli batter is prepared using rice and black lentils. Idli is also associated national cuisine of India SriLanka, Singapore and Malaysia.
Once I woke up very late in the morning and I was in a hurry to prepare breakfast for my family, and I thought of experimenting and came out with beautiful delicious instant bread idli recipe which I prepared in no time and I saved my family by going hungry without breakfast.
Nowadays you will get many ready to cook idli batters but this instant bread idli recipe tastes very different from traditional idli/dosa batter which you must try once and you will definitely love it.
Shelf life of instant bread idli –
- batter can be kept for 2 days if kept in refrigerator
- consume the prepared idli after preparation
- consume the prepared chutney within a day.

Instant bread idli
Ingredients
for batter
- 6 white breads
- 1 cup rava/semolina
- 1 cup curd
- 1 tsp salt
- water
- 1 tsp soda
for chutney
- 1/2 cup fresh coconut
- 2 tbsp roasted peanuts
- 1 green chilli
- small piece gnger
- 1/2 tsp salt
- handful coriander
- 4 tbsp curd
Instructions
- Take six white breads and cut off the sides
- add it to a blender and make bread crumbs
- now take a bowl add crumbs, rava/semolina, curd and salt to it
- Mix it well
- add some water and mix it well again
- cover it for an hour
- now take another blender and add fresh coconut, roasted peanuts, green chilli, ginger, salt, curd and coriander leaves
- add some water if required and blend it
- now take the batter give it a mix
- add some soda and water and mix it well to idli batter consistency
- transfer it to the greased idli tray
- place it in a steamer
- steam on high for 8 minutes.
- your instant bread idli is ready.
